LA Glam Squad

LA Glam Squad

I feel like every girl has their Glam Squad, some- like J Lo- just employ them full time.

Unfortunately, my GS is all in California, but it does give me an excuse to go catch up with friends.

Here is a short list:

  • Dr. Julia Hunter @wholisticdermatology - Legendary International Dermatologist.  Formerly known as an Anesthesiologist, she turn the corner ages ago- you can't tell how many- and practices dermatology from the inside out.
  • Dr. Leedia @drleedia - The most amazing person as well as a natural dentist.  That might sound like horrible toothpaste- but she's conservative dentistry using a holistic approach.  I love the gum line ozonation that she does with every cleaning.  PS - she got me hooked on mouth taping.
  • Sara Hammel @in_the_den - We fell in love when she was working at Serge Normant and she told me she was from Arizona.  Besties ever since- I NEVER color my hair... maybe 3 times in the last 8 years? She does such an amazing consultative color- like she knows what I do and don't want- and understands my lifestyle is LOW MAINTENANCE.

She also has an INCREDIBLE candle line called In The Den.

  • Sophia Park @sophiaparkbodywork- Body worker! Tapping into the spiritual realm to give you a guided massage.  She's incredible- you leave feeling - not only physically better but more connected and peaceful.
  • Carina's Skin Care - Galvanic Goddesses.  Carina was an apprentice to the founder of the Galvanic facial, and is the cutest, kindest woman around. I feel so blessed to have seen her studio double in size, while she and her daughter, Natalie, only become more amazing- and never aging.
  • Lindsay Merrell @pluckandpout - My San Diego Eye Brow Queen. She is a brow master. I remember, she doesn't, seeing her when I was in college- and even then! she was encouraging a big brow that naturally frames the face. She also loves long walks on the beach.

As I write this, I just have to say, GOHHH I feel really lucky that all of these women are not only MASTERS at their trade but also the BEST HUMANS.

Restaurants

  • GTA @gjelina - that egg sandwich... I mean, come on... I don't even care that I'm sitting on a bench (no longer a create) outside.

  • Capri LA @capriclubla - new spot in Eagle Rock, a friend I grew up with opened it- and he hit the nail on the head. Casual, vintage, hipster, neighborhood, lounge vibe- did you get all that?
  • Brighton Coffee Shop in Beverly Hills - So random- not fancy, but love it for some reason.
  • Superba @lifesuperba - I have been to Superba in Venice before, but not this new restaurant in Hollywood. The decor- not only walking in past the gorgeous patio with a calming fountain was fabulous- but inside, was a place I wanted to move-in to.  The food was yummy, but dare I say, not the best.

  • El Russo Pura Calidad @elruso - INSANITY. This food truck's food is beyond. I felt very lucky I got the last few tacos. The PARAMEDICS came by to get their fill, and I felt badly that I had eaten the food truck out of house and home- none left for them. I overheard the EMT, not that I was stalking large burly men in uniform or anything, say that this was the second time he had come by and they were out of food. I got the Colorado, Carne, and Chicarron. Just incredible.

Places on my list still to go

  • Eszett @Eszettla
  • Greekmans @greekmansla
  • Courage Bagels @courage_bagels

There were a few other places I went, but meh.. not too many others I'm in love with. Like I would only write about Intelligentsia because I saw a cute old actor. Like I said, Meh.

Interesting, I didn't even go to the ocean this time... I am seriously in a grounding season. SO WEIRD.
